1) La Bohème - Live
This video showcases my rendition of a classic French song by Charles Aznavour, completely re-imagined. It demonstrates my intricate use of Ableton Live and live computer automation. My entire practice relies on having a high-performance computer capable of creating large soundscapes.
Looping is an integral technique and important part of developing the intricate soundscapes and the vast layers within a Ponteix song. Looping allows me to use a combination of many instruments simultaneously in both live and studio settings in order to layer rhythms, textures & melodies. In conjunction with live looping, I use Ableton Live as a primary compositional and performative tool. Using this powerful program allows me to not only layer each individual instrument, but also gives me the capacity to affect every parameter during the process. This method of looping through Ableton Live enables me to create the musically colourful canvas on which I can paint freely, both in English and in French.
